instrument rating
Pilots who hold at least a Private rating can further their aviation with an instrument rating. Unlike most fixed wing aircraft, most helicopters are not instrument rated. There are certain jobs which employers will require an instrument rating, including some EMS jobs. Our FLYIT simulator is certified by the FAA, and up to 20 hours can count toward your required 40 hours of flight training.
License Requirements:
- Possess a private (or higher) pilot certificate
- Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
- Hold a current FAA 3rd class medical (or Higher) Certificate
- Must have logged at least 50 hours of cross country PIC (pilot in command) flight time.
- Pass FAA written instrument knowledge test (prior to taking FAA practical flight test).
- Complete 40 hours minimum instrument flight time, 15 hours of which must be in a helicopter.
- Complete one 100 nautical mile instrument cross country instructional flight, which includes at least 3 different instrument approaches at 3 different airports.
- Pass FAA instrument oral and practical flight test.
Prices are estimated according to FAA minimums. Students may require more training if necessary.

Each passenger UNDER 18 YEARS OLD MUST HAVE A PARENT or guardian sign a Liability waiver.
